I am considering buying a 2002 Corvette Convertable. Has anyone on this forum installed a Z1 in this car or does anyone know if it will fit? IF so what kind of fit and spacers will I need and what is a good source for them.

Thanks for any help or direction.

It should fit, search around for the parts on here. Should just be a typical double din gm kit.

It's not a double din opening. You'll have to do some fabbing in order to fit a double din in that.

it wont fit without severe modification. i have a 2004 vette and the dash is 1.5 din size as opposed to the double din you will need for the Z1. So unless you are good with fiberglass or are willing to pay a lot to get the dash cut to fit the Z1 you are kinda out of luck.

Yes, it was a real pain in the but.. A lot of people got a piece fabricated, but it relocated or made some stuff disappear, like that little empty container underneath.

Last time I was quoted on a piece like that it was 300-400 dollars. Not worth it. Plus I sold that car too.

I installed a Z1 in my 01 Vette. I had to remove the center console cover and modify it for double din it required cutting one of the cross pieces and re-bonding it to make the top opening a double din. Then I had to move the Temp control module down (I chose to move it to the bottom opening and get rid of the ash tray). It was quite a project but worth it.

You might want to check the Corvette Forum for instructions on modifying the console.
