Disks ARE available. In fact, you can get the upgrade disk here:

Problem is, you can't use the disk without a unique media code and unit S/N. Each disk can only be used once with a Z1 untill someone figures out a key gen.

I think he meant that a hacked patch update disk would surface that would not need a SN from pioneer.
