Hello,

I am going to vacation to EU this summer and my buddy over there asked me go get AVIC D3 here in US for him and bring it to him ... apparently it is much cheaper here than there. I am wondering if using EU map discs would work in US version of D3 ?

Hi,

I am new here so certainly no expert, but I am in the UK if that helps.

I see no reason why it would not work as we have managed to use EU discs sucessfully in imported japanese cars hat have run japan's version of pioneer head units without any problems.

They need a frequency expander due to the difference in their broadcast radio stations, but the US uses the same frequencies as the uk.

There is a huge price difference (like double) and we have to pay for the ipod adapter separately, but we do get the bluetooth module and according to the pioneer uk website, the manual for the D3 at least indicates that we have RDS on ours, whereas I don't think the US version does.

Until my own one arrives shortly, I can't confirm if this is the case. I have to wait about a month.

Make sure you let your EU friend know, as I would be really p'd off at the lack of RDS.

If someone tells me how to mirror the discs, I will be making a "backup" of my own euro supplied discs.

Of course I would "never" supply someone in need with a copy as that would be copyright infringement!

Same pricing policy here in Finland. Sucks. Do you use both odd and even radio frequencies in Norway ? Old days that was one of the problems with radios from US. What about region coding on the DVD ?

thnx,

mrkk

I am waiting for my unit to be supplied by pioneer GB. When it arrives, I am more than happy to help out if I can.

Hello from Germany,

has anyone tried the CNDV-70D in a Avic D3 from USA till now, or are all still search for the map disc.

I doesn't have a real answer until now if the europ map disk works in the american d3 and next week I want to buy a D3 ;-(.

Thx a lot

Greetz John

P.S. search at edonkey/emule...

It doesn't work and viceversa, the US map doesn't work in the Euro D3. So I ended up buying a euro D3 instead.

@baldrick, did you tested it with CNDV-70D or did you only read threads in the internet ?

And did you try to modify the disc like someone does in this board for the american avic d2/d1 ?

Thx a lot.

I've friends that have the tried the CNDV-70D (not only copys, the orginala as well) in US players and it will not play! (this is the reason why there are quite a few US D3s for sale in Norway :))

I've also tried the US disc in my Euro player and the DVD will not play! I also made an ISO of my Euro disc and burnt it as an backup and there is no problem with this one, so there are no problems running backups, but it has to be the correct disc!

I haven't done any modifcations with the disc, what kind of modifications do you mean? I earlier thought it was the region code that was the problem, but there are no region code for the disc so I honestly don't know what it won't play...
