Z2 Loading Music via CD-R discs?

Hi there...

I'm picking up a new Z2 in a few days, in a custom installation in my Taurus SHO. I've been reading the instructions and have discovered I cannot upload my CD-Rs into its HD. It theoretically only takes factory CDs. All my music is on CD-Rs, since I equalize them and make other changes to the music, as well as de-popping old LPs.

You guys have been discovering all sorts of things to do to it to make it work better, like the 2-wire bypass, which I want to do, too. Is there a way to make it take my CD-Rs? Also, is there a way to have it load MP3 files?

Thanks.

It will take audio CD-R's. If you burn the full album the gracenote DB will figure out what it is. If you burn a mix CD make sure whatever suite your using burns CD-text info. And if it is a mix CD make sure you give it an album name or the album will only show up a number under the album search.

Thanks for responding. Verify for me please......

First....all of my CDs are mixes....they are either classical collections or groups of classic rock (various performers) from the '60s-'80s.

So....I "MUST" use CD Text info with the songs? I think I am now, but I'm not sure. If I see title names when I play the CDs on my computer using Media Player, or even "Track 1, Track 2, etc., that's good enough?....they will load onto the Z2? When I play homemade MP3 tracks, their names show up on the car deck, but WAV files do not (both types appear on the desktop Media Player).

I make my music mods using CD Creator 7.5. I burn them using NERO, since CD Creater seems to crash a lot while burning (probably the computer's fault...other friends have no problem with CDC).

If there is more adjusting I need to do, please let me know.

Thanks a BUNCH!!

Yup, gotta use CD text on a mix CD. If WMP is only seeing Track 1...etc then there is no text associated with the track so you will probably have to type it in yourself. Then when you burn it to CD the text will be associated with the track. And when you rip it into your Z2, the radio will read the text because it can't verify it against the internal gracenote database. The internal Gracenote DB looks at a complete album's number of tracks, the length of each track and total running time to find a match.

Thank you for the help. I get it back this weekend. If I need more help, I'll ask again.
