my question is how do people on ebay and other sites sell supposedly brand new equipment for a cheaper price than say an authorized dealer?

is it because pioneer only warranties stuff sold through authorized dealers? are these really new for the most part? I also read something about Euro and USA equipment. is one worse than the other? do they function here and vice versa? prolly sounds stupid to you guys

this has been discussed in depth, usually when someone gets ripped off and comes here to tell their story. With that said, things like no warranty from pioneer, but an optional expensive warranty from the seller is one factor. In addition some units are really brand new, but refurbs. Also, the products are often times NOT complete. For example the product will be missing the wiring, manuals, warranty card, maybe gps ant. and then you have to go buy that stuff from them or from somewhere else at an added cost of course. Not to mention the scammers that are present on ebay. Like I have said in the past I have had by far more bad experiences with ebay then good. so protect yourself and do some homework before you plunk down your hard earned money... common sense you probably already have is so valuable.

My experiences with eBay have been almost uniformly good, to be perfectly honest. But currently, the best price for the AVIC D3 seems to be compuplus.com. And I've only heard good things about them (including when I ordered my own unit). There's some controversy here as to whether or not they're an authorized dealer whose warranty will be honored by Pioneer. I guess I'm taking a chance. But the website claims that the unit comes with the full factory warranty. In any case, hope I don't need to find out. So far the unit works great, in any case.
