On the fence about buying...

Hey all - I've been researching high-end in-dash all in one GPS units like crazy, and I need some questions answered before I pull the trigger on the Z-2.

(1) ipod support is pretty important to me and unfortunately I've been reading how subpar the ipod integration is. My question is can the ipod problem be fixed with a firmware upgrade? Even if i have to put a new cable that's ok, I just don't want a $2,000 paperweight.

(2) I'm not sure how far along the z2's lifecycle is, but seeing how there's a d-3 and an n-3, should I expect a z-3 soon? like this year?

(3) The other comparable unit I've been deciding between is the panasonic strada. Has anyone used the strada? any reviews? Unbiasedly, which one would you prefer and why?

Thanks

1. The ipod browsing is slow. If thats a huge problem for you, there is a very simple mod to the ipod adaptor that lets you use the ipod itself for searching instead of onscreen. There are threads on the mod on here somewhere

2. No Z3 this year, maybe next year. They usually announce models in January at CES and ship them in like April-mid year

3. I have played with the Strada in a store. Didn't like the Denso/Eclipse-looking maps, doesn't store music on the hard drive, if you want want to add more than one accessory (sat radio, tv tuner, ect) you have to buy an expensive "hub". Other than that, not bad for a companies first navigation effort
