D2 installed, no main menu?

So I had my D2 installed in my Trailblazer SS this morning. Got the unit real cheap (refurb) and it was installed without a problem, love it, but it seems that the bypass did not work. I told my installer that he had to add a wire to the empty slot on the harness and then ground that and the parking break wire... now when I turn the car on it comes up with a warning saying that the parking break lead is not properly connected before it goes to the other warning. does that mean he did the bypass 100% wrong? or is it a possibility something came undone?

also, after reading through the manual it seems that the menus the talk about in the manual are not the same as on my unit. I don't have a home screen I guess, so i cant find "settings" so that i can change the picture displayed on the screen. is this because of the parking break wire being improperly installed?

its driving me crazy, I feel like a total idiot trying to navigate to menus I can't find, and I dont believe are there on my unit. Any help would be great because I plan on taking the car back to the shop tomorrow to get this sorted out and idea as to whats wrong is going to make it easier to sort out.

thanks in advance!

The wire inserted into the harness either isn't, or isn't inserted fully, or not grounded properly.

thanks, got the settings and what not what a relief.

Now I talked to my installer this morning and he said that he moved the mute wire over and it went without a hitch, he also said that the parking break wire is grounded correctly. he said maybe there should be a switch on the parking break wire so that the unit sees the parking break wire going on/off.... would this help?

Im going to make him retest the connection to the harness as that is what was suggested I just need to make sure this goes flawlessly becasue I have to leave for school in Florida tomorrow morning, so this is my only chance to get this sorted out. once i get to florida, I have no installer that Ive already paid and I wont have tools of my own for many many months.

any replies greatly appreciated. thanks.

Nope. You don't need any switch. Just tie the p-brake wire to ground and also ground the Kmode wire (the one that he moved over). It should work that way then. Either he put the mute wire in the wrong slot, or one of the two wires isn't grounded correctly.
