Does the navigation on the AVIC-Z1 sort POI search results by distance? This is one thing that really annoys me about my AVIC-D1.

If I search for Best Buy, I'd like it to tell me which one is closest to me and not have to go through all of them.

Yes it will do it by distance, and also Alphabetical order

But what about telling you in which direction it is. For example, if your on a route on the D1, it may send you back the other way to get to it.

Does the Z1 at least tell you in what direction the POI is before you select it?

No, it doesn't tell you the direction, but you can always hit the map button to SEE where it is before you actually add it as a destination or way point.
