A month or so ago I had a local shop in Milwaukee do the bypass on my D3 as they were doing some other work on the LCD's. Everything seemed fine until one day I started the car and got the "PARKING BRAKE" warning and the unit acted as if it didn't know it was bypassed. (Couldn't access all Nav functions and wouldn't play a DVD while moving) Shut the car off restarted and same thing. Did this for two days then just started working. FF to today and same thing. Just sitting in the drive thru and the parking brake warning came on. Now tonight it's fine again.

I called the install the last time and said I was getting the warning and he told me that even with the bypass I should get the warning. I told him I had not gotten it since he did the bypass. So:

1) Is it normal after doing the bypass that the parking brake warning will go away and the screen starts normally.

2) what could be the problem that it seems to "forget" that it is bypassed" Possible loose parking brake conection? (I didn't install but I assume the green parking brake wire is just grounded???)

Loose connection on the moved cell mute wire.

1. You should not get the parking brake warning if the bypass is done properly. Ever

2. Its probably a loose ground, or the pin in the magic bypass hole is not seated properly and has come loose.

Take it back to the installer and have him do it correctly and you shouldn't have any problems

The pin has come loose on the second wire that needs to be grounded. Sometimes you need to make sure it clicks when you do the hack.

Either the mute wire pin came out or the ground connection came out (if he grounded to the chassis).

Check all ground connection and you should be good to go. The connections could have come appart from normal vibrations if he did a crappy job (wire nuts?).
