I have an Avic D-1 and looking into getting the Xdvp-1 the pioneer 6 disc changer. I have yet to install the Navi unit into my 01 lesabre. Any ideas or opinions and suggestions.........?

i have read different posts on how that changer will not allow touch screen functions. I got the unit for $300 and the changer i will be getting for about $420. I am wondering if it is even worth getting. I like the fact of dvd video and having a changer.

First, whats an XDVP1? You mean XDVP6, or 90, or 9? The D1 does have A/V bus so you will have touchscreen control of a Pioneer DVD changer, you will just need a remote to actually start playing each movie

my bad it was a typo. the Xdv-p6 is the changer I am looking at geting. Also I don't have a remote for the Avic D 1. I was wondering which one would be the best one for the unit. By chance does anyone know if the pioneer changer comes with a remote. I have the old maps that came with it. I am curious since I bought it at Circuit City, if pioneer would update them.

Pioneer will ship you the updates....... for $250 plus shipping and possibly tax. As for remote, it doesn't come with one. though I suspect any pioneer remote would work.

would you not recommend using the discs from other units. like the D3 or the N units. haven't gotten around to reading all the forums yet. thanks for the input and responses.

The XDVP6 comes with a remote. As for disks, the D3 disks won't work in it, not sure about the N4 disks since they aren't here yet. The CNDV70 disks will, but as stated here, they are $250 if you buy them from Pioneer
