I need to be able to do a start and stop or a record.

Example.

I have an hour and a half drive with over 20 something turns. Can I do a start and stop at the end of the trip and keep it stored as a fav and pop the disk in when needed?

Thanks in advance and any help would be appreciated!

I'm not really sure what you're asking. You can store your destination into the address book and navigate to it any time by just clicking on it if that's what you're asking.

I'm kind of confused by what you're asking as well.

If you set a destination though, it will save the entire route to memory, so you wouldn't need to put the disc back in unless you wanted to change something.

I would like to do a custom back road map by doing a start and stop or something like that?

1) Can I enter all of the backroads I want to take to get to my dest.?

2) Can I make a start point and head towards my dest and then create an end point when I arrive and keep that custom nav mapping.? (Like a record option)

Basically I need to create a custom backroad mapping or do a recorded trip so I can travel it again.

(All I hear is common roads, quickest route etc... I need to do a custom path)

No

So almost every nav unit will do this except for this unit?

I want to make sure you guys understand what I'm asking...

I have the name of the roads needed and I want to enter them in so I can get directions to it every time as a fav?

I think what your saying is you want to set waypoints to force a specific route to your destination. I'm not sure if that's possible but it should be if it isn't.

Exactly!!! Can anyone confirm that it workie!!! LOL = )

That would be great~

Yes, it will do waypoints but you will need the disk in when you set the route, then you can take it out.

BTW, If you are taking the same roads every time and know the names, why do you need the nav?

*cough* ADD jk LOL

Actually it's about 5 pages of turns that I need to learn and this will help till I have them down in my head! = )

So waypoints it is hugh?

Well it looks like the D3 is not the greatest... It will not leave a bread crumb trail or allow you to select roads to get to your destination... I'm going to have to try and trick it with way points or areas to avoid... great...

If you were looking for "the greatest" navigation system, you probably shouldn't have been looking for the least expensive nav head unit you could buy.

tonysil

I knew someone would state this... The truth is $200 dollar models have this... so you are wrong...

Posted Aug 28, 2007 · 02:33 UTC#14

True. But those $200 models are single purpose oriented. The D3 has many, many functions, each of which it does pretty well, but each of which are done better by units dedicated solely to those functions.

You paid for diversity, not perfection.

Which is why I having to rig it with waypoints and areas to avoid...(It may be a good excuse to have a suction cupped NAV since they screwed the unit over with only one slot anyways) LOL

Thanks to all... I'll rig it! Maybe in a future upgrade- who knows

I just cant figure out why those who want to navigate the same route day after day and seem to know exactly where they are going seem to want to bash one of the better and least expensive units on the market. Navigation is meant to aid you in finding an unfamiliar destination, not drive you to work every morning. Maybe you should try its routes. I used to think my "backroad shortcuts" were the fastest way to various points here locally, but my D3 seems to know the fastest route.... Yeah i have had traffic problems at times but i just detoured around and it kept rerouting me to my destination. And yes it does do "breadcrumbs" its in your route options. Maybe you should read your directions before you bash a unit. This is a far better product than my N2 which was a 2000.00 unit. And way better than my friends TOM-TOM.

I called Pioneer and they said it doesn't do ("breadcrumbs" it's in your route options)

Enlighten me after reading the manual twice a-hole = )

I love people who say this unit is the stuff! I have spent at least a couple of grand in car sterios over the last few years and in no way did I feal like I skimped to buy something of lesser money only to find out it's not that great; even compared to a $1800 Kenwood setup that I just returned that was a Garmin and it had a memory card that I could upload custom routes to and it would take me there. (BTW the unit was DOA Flip Motor Mechanism) (hince buying the D3 for dual din instead of flip)

I love forum peeps...

I PM'd deeredude5510

I will post my comment after I hear the magic words; after I spent an hour talking to a pioneer tech who said NO!

Goto page 75 bottom right and continues onto page 76 upper right.

They're called tracking dots. Next time RTFM.

EDIT: Those page numbers are the pdf numbers, not the actual page numbers in the manual.

Ok I wasn't going to respond to this but after reading till the end I changed my mind. First of all, getting your answer form Pioneer is hit and miss. It wouldn't be the first time they have given incorrect info on their units, and in this case they have done that again. Now, what you can do is create your own route using waypoints but it will only allow you up to five per route. It also memorizes every destination in the DESTINATION HISTORY section of the unit which you can pick from again at a later date.

cntrylvr79 That page is on 73 and 74 of our manual; I will let you know if that works; it's roughly 2 sentences and it's on or off? How can it store a million dots? = ) Not sure this is what I need and hate to think Pioneer is that stupid to say the z model was the only model that offered it.

Thanks though, I will try it today and get back to this thread.

VBLUE42 I appreciate your post that was what I was thinking…= )
