My installer installed the Z1 in my truck. And instead of hooking up all the steering wheel controls and the power and ground he ran one wire to a IR sensor on my dash. I dont know what wire that is, but i know the steering wheel controls do not work. Also he told me that i now need a factory remote to program the controls. Please give me any insite in what you think he did. Thanks much.

that will wotk with the Z1 and no programing needed

Sounds like he put in a SWI-X from Pac Audio which does need a remote. You don't want that. As tgrove said, you want a SWI-PS, and you do have to program it, but not with another remote control. And it is wired and works better.
