Phone Settings Greyed Out

Just got my Zq installed today, and almost everything is working great except Bluetooth. When I go to the Information pane in the nav menu to set up the phone, the Phone Settings menu is greyed out.

Now, the BT module is hooked up, because I can pair the phone "invisibly", meaning if I have my phone search for a device, it finds the Pioneer BT and will pair, though I don't have any phone menu or phone book or anything - I can dial from the phone and will play through the speakers, but the mic does not pick up my voice.

I'm using a Blackberry 8700c BTW...

So, what gives? Any ideas? I've hard reset the Z1 from the front panel push button, but the Phone Settings menu is still grey out. On my AV menu, there is an EXT1 available, and if I go into it, it says Tel Reg, but there are no setup options there. Is it possible it was hooked up incorrectly? I THOUGHT it could only connected in one place.

When should the Phone Setting menu be available? As soon as the Z1 senses the BT module connected?

I didn't get a seprate BT module manual back from the dealer either - is there one in the box? I've left a VM for him in any event....Otherwise, I'm working off the Z1 manual only...

However, iPod, XM with Traffic, Sirius, and old CD changer all working like a charm...

This might be the first thing that popped into my head, but could the mic not be plugged in? When in AV or Nav mode do you see the little "voice" icon in the corner (the nav screen has it in the top right and the av has it in the bottom left I believe). If you don't have that, then your mic is not plugged in. And maybe it effects the phone menu more than I knew.

The microphone from my AVIC 90, which was previously in my vehicle, was used by my installer (his choice, not mine...)

I presume the mic should work fine with the Z1, but could this be a problem? (Z1 doesn't see a mic, doesn't activate the Phone Settings menu?)

Can you touch the little voice activation icon in the bottom left, and make any voice requests? Try "change map scale" That's an easy one that always works on mine. If it's not working at all, then it's definately the mic. If it doesn't work, take the new Z1 mic to your installer and tell him to install it like it should be.

I think that's the problem - I don't see a mic icon - I'm going to slide the unit out and see if it's connected (or did he connect it in the "Not Used" port right next to the mic port, accidently - looking at the install diagrams, that seems like a mistake opportunity, unless it's not a mini jack...)

He must have the new Z1 mic, because it's not in anything that's been returned to me.

I'll post results....

Yah, if you don't see the voice "mic" icon on the regular screen, I know the Z1 hides that if it doesn't see a mic plugged in. That's probably your problem. I hope your installer still has your Z1 one.

I just got back, and the rep realized that he sold me the wrong BT module - the older Pioneer model - he apologize profusely, and will rectify it as soon as they get the ND-BT1 in stock, or, if I find it elsewhere, he will install it while I wait and credit me out.

Overall, despite the hiccup, I'm pleased with 6th Ave - they also fixed some "old" issues due to wear and tear on the vehicle, and did a very clean job.

Correct BT module installed, and all is well, except a questions on transfer my phone book - will post a new thread for that.

Circuit City in Wayne had the BT module, btw...

Same happened to me man. I was pretty peeved. It worked to a point, but the features were all dimmed out and unusable. I just had my unit swapped the other day and it sure added a lot to the unit's functionality and usefulness to me.
