I did the bypass for the mute wire and grounded the brake. That works fine. Now the steering wheel controls dont work with the volume anymore. Would simply changing the mute wire location change it so the steering wheel control no longer work?

I did not think so. I had aonther guy install the unit and I know he had to get a bypass for the controls to be used. Must be lose. Have him look tomorrow.
