I added more to your last post. Check the system settings, page 154 in the manual and make sure that is all set up correctly.

I meant when I turn on the car most of the time is goes straight to dvd becuase I was watching it and when I hit map the map comes up and I hit map again the view modes and when I hit the rear view mode half the screen is black with the other showing a map. My polarity is set to battery and the camera works in reverse

I might suggest you get the instructions to the camera and see what is triggering it to operate in reverse. There might be two "power" sources...one to power the camera and another to "turn it on". The "turn on" feature is probably your reverse light feed. That may need to be changed to a switched 12V source. I'm just shooting from the hip here, but if it works in reverse, then it should work the way you want it to by powering and initializing the camera when you want. The instructions should give you what you're looking for.

Turns out the camera power was taken off the reverse lights wire. So power will have to be re-run to the 12v switched line and it should work.

That's exactly what I thought he would find Steve.
