I purchased AVIC-Z2, need help finding the VSS wire and any help would be much appreciated for my 2002 Toyota Camry SE V6 with Auto Tranny.
2002 camry vss wire
The horizontal ECU second connector from the top: purple with white stripe
You might also be able to get it the same color at the clock above the radio.
I looked at the wires at the clock, I found a purple/white wire with greyish spots. Is this the wire. Appreciate all the help.
Thanks,
Ron
Might just be. A lot of toyota wires have those dots. Test it if it works cool if not ecm isn't that hard to get to. It's right behind the glove box.
I got to the ECM, you are correct it was behind the glovebox. How do I test to find out if I have the correct wire. I have a Fluke Multimeter.
Thanks,
Ron
Set to AC voltage. Negative probe to ground. Positive probe to suspect vss wire. With vehicle stopped you should have 0volts. moving you should have voltage, what exactly I don't know since it varies car to car.
Cheers, will do.
Thanks,
Ron
Was about to do my Camry on Monday night, i have read alot of posts from this website over the past month or so and wanted to make sure I got this right. I even went to the12volt to find some more wiring info as to not ask newbie type questions. Then today i check posts and see one about the same location as my Camry after doing all that research. I took pictures of where i think this VSS wire is on the ECM behind the glove box and i just was hoping for conformation before I go back in and hook it up. Thanks for the help/replies in advanced. Drew
I tried blue/white, purple/white, violet/white red/white wires at the ECM for both top and second from the top connectors without any success. I thought I might be doing something wrong, so I went to a stereo shop that installs Pioneer AVIC's and they replicate what I did without any success. I am back to square one. Any idea what the next step should be, as I am confused.
Thanks,
Ron
After all is said and done, I went back to the clock and connect my AVIC-Z2 to the purple/white (with spots) wire and my AVIC-Z2 is working fine. Just a side note, using a multi-meter to measure output voltage did not work for whatever reason.
Anyhow, thanks for all the help.
Ron
