if the truck has the 2 knobs that hang out over the edges of the radio its a custom cut install. if you have the gigantic nav unit then metra makes a kit

i havent bought the truck yet, so is it easy to modify if i just buy the smaller radio? Or should i waste the monet on the huge nav radio?

I have a 2007 Ram 2500, and I have installed the Z2. I started with the small factory dodge radio, and swaped to the nav dash. I will pm you with the parts you would need to install it to look stock.

2006-2008 Dodge Navigation Dash:

(OEM part comes in many colors)

https://www.dodgeparts.com/index.php/cP ... 5814c5babd

OEM part numbers for the Navigation Dash Bezel for the 2006-2008 Dodge Ram, if you prefer to go through your dealer:

1CP581DHAA Slate Gray

1CP581J8AA Khaki

5JZ121DHAC Maple & Slate Gray

5JZ121J8AC Maple & Khaki

5JZ131Z2AC Maple & Satin Silver

Install kit:

American International CD-K650 (by far the better looking)

or

Metra 99-6510. I currently have the Metra part and will be changing to the American International, I will post a new pictures after I get it installed.

Antenea adapter:

Metra 40-cr10

or

Scosche CRA

or

AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL CR6

Can Bus Adapter:

(provides VSS, reverse, illumination, switched power, etc wire connections from the factory harness)

Scosche DCCR03SRB

or

Peripheral Concepts CHYAH05

This would be everything you need to install an AVIC D or Z in a 2006-2008 Dodge Ram 1500, 2500, or 2500 without factory navigation.

I too have an '08 Ram 2500. It may be a bit more expensive but IMO it is far easier and unless your a whiz at custom fab, a cleaner look to just replace the 1.5 din bezel with the nav bezel. Just my 2 cents.

Huge thanks to garrettoomey for doing the hard work for me prior to my install.

I just received the CD-K650 trim piece (based on your opinion on it looking better) and I had a n00b question that I probably already know the answer to.

It has a small plastic horizontal bar across the opening, I'm assuming that this piece should be cut out and filed down for the F90BT. Am I correct or does it serve some secret and non-obvious purpose?

Yes, you will just cut/file it out.

Thanks, I got it all installed the other night. Took about 4 hours (took me a while to find a place for the XM module, was hoping to put it where the factory Sirius was).

Thanks again for the post with all the parts. Really made things easy.

No problem. I removed the factory Sirius, and replaced it with the Pioneer sirius. I decided to go with XM with Nav traffic instead. The XM unit is installed behind a pop out cover on the passenger side. (Open the passenger door, and look at the side of the dash, and you will see a removable cover. I used zip ties to secure it, and then used the stock sirius antenna.

How about posting a picture of your finished install?
