I've got a new Sequioa on the way with the factory 10.2 inch lcd flip down screen in the back. I'm adding the AVIC D3 and i wanted to know how difficult it was to connect the rear LCD to the AVIC.
Anyone attempt this with a factory flip down?

you should post once you have the vehicle and flip down... some dealers say factory dvd, when its really an aftermarket.
ya no factory screen is more than 8 inches big. id guess its an audiovox or a directed screen.
Sounds good. I take delivery mid September.
Ok just found out that its a Auto Cinema flip down. Went to the website and it looks like their G8 package. After reading through the FAQ's it looks like the audio is sent to the HU via FM modulator. Not thrilled about that but what can I do. It does have a game port for RCA connections. I wonder how difficult it will be to run RCA's from the AVIC to the flip down.
Last but not least I hope it has a built in TV tuner but i guess I'll have to wait to find out.
well the G8 is rosen, dont know what auto cinema is. rosen makes an excellent overhead. Rosen has a a/v out so you can connect directly to an avic unit and get video from the overhead ON the avic.. along with sound. Keep in mind the g8 is a bit bulky. There is NO need for the fm modulators, but if you do have to use one, make sure they use the myron davis one NOT dei's or others. Ill repeat, you do not need an fm modulator, you can interface it properly with rca's.
This system should not have cost you more then $1000 INSTALLED. it really isnt much of an install either. pretty simple. Just so you know, audiovox makes a similar unit that is real nice as well. I believe it is a bit thinner which is always a plus. the model of the audiovox one is vod102 i believe. In fact, I have some of them and selling them for $500 plus shipping. SUrely you could get it installed for NO more then a few hundred. making it cost NO more then $800. So, if you see the price difference from what the dealer is going to charge you, your welcome to pm me, Ill gladly help you out. Just note the info I've already mentioned.
Thanks for the offer. It's a 1400 MSRP from the dealer but i'm getting it below cost at $900 installed with warranty. If I was looking at full retail I would definitly be buying from you.
Thanks for the information as well. Will I have to pull the headliner to run the RCA's or can I get away with fishing it through the headliner?
you could probably 'fish' it through, but better yet, tell the dealership to do it right, dont settle for fm modulated. besides its cheaper to do the right way instead of the modulator.
I wasn't sure if this would be installed at the factory or at the actual dealership. If it's at the dealership I will make sure they hard wire everything.
if its aftermarket stuff, its definitely done at the dealer. "in the back" where their guys can do it. be good idea to tell them well before its done

I wonder if their going to have a problem doing this since the factory HU will still be installed at that time and doesnt have any inputs to accept the audio/video?
actually good point, most companies dont use the myron davis one which requires you to use the rca out of the overhead... you would typically run it to the front and mount by the head unit. but they are likely to use the built in one where they dont have to run rca's, id ask to talk with the install people, probably a 3rd party install company too. get with them and ask them to rust run the rca to the front by the head unit, leave them tied up there for you later.
