I just installed a bypass D3 this friday. the unit has worked great except for one issue that come up today.

 

1)I first entered a destination via. the address search and aaccepted the selected route

2) I made a quick pitstop to pick up coffee ( turning off the car)

3) after getting on the road, I noticed that part of the route (which is normally highlighted in green), was now purple for a long distance up to some random guidance pt. about 30km (19mi) away.

4) As I travelled along the now prurple route, voice guidance would not work no matter what I did. the volume was high and voice guidance was set to ON.

5) once i passed said random guidance point along the route and entered the green portion of the route, voice guidance resumed???

 

Has anybody else experienced/solved this problem? this was VERY annoying, but has only happened once during the entire weekend of playing around with this thing.

I contacted pioneer and they said this is normal for certain rural areas. their tech mentioned that in order to fit 12pts. of interest on the NAV cd's, they had to cut back on other data (i.e., voice guidance in approx 20% of NA).

 

Kind of a bummer, but I'll make due with the other features
