Silly question but how do heck do you turn off the unit... ?
I miss the rotary buttons on the factory units...
By pressing Mode, it only blackout the screen but the unit is till running... is there an easy 1 step action to turn off completly ?

If wired per installation manual, the only common way is to turn ignition key to off. Uncommon ways are to pull fuse or car battery.
If you want another [somewhat common] way to turn off, install a switch inline with HU ignition lead.
If you go to the home screen, the button below the map, then press AV button, it gives you a list of sources, and an off option.

...but that doesn't really turn the unit off, i.e. same as ignition key in off position. That's more like a standby mode.
I am assuming that's what the op was asking, but yes to turn it off completely you need to remove the key
what i need is to silent the unit and to shutdown the screen (while driving) in a quick easy step... Sometime i really need quietness and to kill the flashing gizmos...
The only way i found was to remove the key pannel (the anti-theft) thing. but that's not not ez enough especially while im driving.

As koush said... for silence, touch A/V panel on home screen, touch Off.
I'm uncertain whether this silences sounds from navi' and connected phone. I've not tried it. Perhaps others will weigh in on that...
I was looking for the exact same thing in my 5000NEX. Same exact reason.....
Sometimes I need silence immediately, and there's no easy way to do it here. Its even a PITA to Mute the thing, you have to touch a volume button just to get the mute to come up on the touchscreen

Yea, I tried that and it seems to sometimes hose my settings.
Note to self, get that bugger screwed in. ![]()
