Just in case anyone here intends on trying it, the music app crashes if you try to play music in CarPlay. I'm sure it will be fixed in later betas but beware of this before you update if you plan on it.
IOS 8.4 Beta 1 Breaks Music Playback in CarPlay
Thanks for the heads up, does it kill any other music apps such as Spotify or the Podcasts app?

No. The other apps work fine. I'm sure that when this version of the OS comes out it will come with a revamped interface for the music app in CarPlay. It will be a prime example of carplay's biggest advantage. Your radio is going to keep getting better without any action on Pioneer's part. (This applies to android auto too)
On another note I'm really hoping that with iOS 9 apple releases a public SDK for developers to use with CarPlay.

Spotify has been broken for me since 8.3, is it working for others?

Broken in what way?
I found initially nothing would work with Spotify / CarPlay until I restarted by iPhone and since then it as worked fine.
Spotify is actually running better for me on iOS 8.3. I can actually press the shuffle button on the screen instead of having to initiate from my phone. I have noticed a bug where the menu from Spotify appears in the middle of the screen though.
I'm back to the problem where I open spotify, select a song, and nothing plays... Sometimes it'll just play the first song stored in my iTunes music library. I have to disconnect the phone from the cable, manually start the song in spotify, then connect the cable to get it to play. Reboot does nothing.
The release notes specifically state that CarPlay will crash on music for iOS Beta 8.4
Bass,
Yes, it does, however many people don't actually read them which is why I posted this. They should, but they don't.
