Question about the GPS in the D3

Greeting everyone.

New to the board, but I figure there is no better place to find out about something than from the folks who use it...

I'm an Amateur (Ham) Radio operator and currently have a transceiver installed in my 2005 Honda Civic EX SE. I run the speaker output from the back of the transceiver (mounted under the passenger seat) to the console and jack in to the factory radio - letting me listen to the radio conversations through the car stereo speakers.

I've also used GPS in my car (have an old Garmin eMap). In an effort to make the most capable - but CLEAN - car install, I started looking at in-dash navigation systems and found the AVIC-D3. Looks like a nice unit. Even nicer, considering I can plug my ham radio into the Aux input behind the dash! Shibby!

Some other radio applications I'm wanting to install in my car include APRS - data-packet transmission with encoded NEMA GPS data.

Does anyone know if the AVIC-D3 has/will output it's GPS information via a serial port or something? Prefereably in NEMA format?

Many thanks, and look forward to the discussion to follow...

I figured not - I knew for durned sure I wasn't going to find out from any "big box" sales reps...

In any case, I appreciate the response. Once I get all my hardware installed and cleaned up, I'll see about posting a pic or two to show the final set-up off.

Again, many thanks for the feedback,
