Does anyone know how to stop my Z2 from cycling to next source on startup. Every time I start my car (power on system), my Z2 will not retain same source I was listening to when I powered off or turned to car off. I can't find the reason for this nor can I find an answer in the manual to stop this annoying occurence. Any help out there? BTW it is customed installed in a BMW 5 Series E39.

Are you using a steering wheel adaptor?

I am using the steering wheel adapter (Pioneer)....what gives?

That's usually a screw up with the PAC SWI-PS device which on power up will send the "next media source" signal to the Avic Z2. The Avic Z2 will not do this on it's own. Powering on and off doesn't cause this. So it's something to do with an external device which can tell it to do that.

I don't know what you have hooked up but you can try unplugging any input into the steering wheel input in the back and see if it stops it.

Thanks, that sounds about right. I have an Ipod, and XM hooked up as external devices along with the Pioneer steering wheel control. Hmmmmm

Pioneer doesn't make a steering wheel adaptor. I would take it back to whoever installed it and have them troubleshoot the adaptor

it just needs to be programed rite take it back to the installer

I think we all might be confused when you say "Pioneer steering wheel control". What exactly do you have?

While pioneer doesn't make a steering wheel ADAPTER, they do make steering wheel controls.... like these:

So I guess the question is..... Do you have something like this? Or do you have factory steering wheel controls and they were connected to the Z2?

If you have the little pioneer thing here? I have never seen this type of thing with this. If you have factory steering wheel controls and they were connected to the Avic, then you probably have a PAC-SWI-PS, and something is wrong with it.

The ipod and xm device are not a problem.

My device is hooked up directly to the steering wheel controls, not an external device. I will take it back to the installer......Thanks

My pac was doing the same thing. Also for 3 days if I hit a big bump it would change also. I finally had time to play around with it and noticed every time I tapped on the pac it would change source or turn sources off. As I was removing the zip ties that held it in place and pulled it down BZZZZZZZT everything went dead. I lost all acc. power coming out of the "scosche" harness. I replaced it with a "peripheral" harness and left the pac adapter out and everything has been working fine. Any Ideas ?
