Hi all,

I'm looking to upgrade the head unit in my 2010 Subaru Forester. 

I've narrowed the choices down to the AVH-4100NEX or the AVIC-5100NEX.

The main reason for upgrading is to get carplay integration.

It's my understanding that the main differences between the 2 units are screen size, built in navigation and the ability to unlock video in motion via software on the 5100 vs the 4100 needing a physical bypass unit installed.  I read something about the 5100 not having an HDMI port, however I'm not sure if/how this would affect me.

I guess my question is, is built in NAV worth sacrificing the larger screen.  For the most part I'd be using Apple Maps via carplay.  The only time I think this would be an issue would be when im in the US as roaming data fees are exceptionally high.  (I don't travel to the US very ofter)

P.S - The 5100 is $100 more than the 4100.

Any other pro's/con's that I've missed?

I have the 4000NEX and use Apple Maps all the time. I don't miss the built-in nav at all.

Thanks for the reply.  I bit the bullet over the weekend and ended up purchasing a 4100NEX.
