Juts had my BU camera installed and works fine in reverse but when i go to map and try it that way i get a black screen?

Is the reverse wire going to your D3 hooked up correctly?

I think it will only activate the reverse camera in map mode if it you're actually in reverse.

And if the reverse wire is not connected to the unit, it won't display it.

I'm just guessing, though. Could be something else altogether.

the camera needs to be powered with the ignition wire not the reverse wire. take it back and have the installer hook it up to ignition.
