Auto EQ-TA issue

Hey guys, first post.   Sorry if this is a redundant thread--I was thinking about posting in the other topic about this, but didn't want to thread hi-jack.

Anyway, I have a questions about the Auto EQ-TA.  After running it, it does change the TA and the sound staging a bit, but it stays on the same EQ setting that was previously on ("powerful", "s. bass", "custom1", etc).  Is it supposed to actually change my EQ curve?  Otherwise, isn't it just an Auto-TA?  I feel like I'm missing something here.  I can turn it on and off and there is definitely a different in sound, but it seems to be more sound stage stuff rather than EQ curve stuff.

Any guidance/clarification in this would greatly be appreciated.  Thanks!

AutoEQ is not available for consumer viewing or adjustment other than on and off.  It's essentially a "background" equalization.  The user EQ settings are piggybacked.

Ah, okay, thank you.  So does that mean the flat eq setting would be what the auto-eq basically sets it to?  Or does it just completely set things other than the frequency levels?  Thanks!

Yes, a flat [user] EQ setting is "audible flat" as adjusted by AutoEQ when on.  If you turn AutoEQ off, the HU line-level output will be flat to the source, but the audible output will include deficiencies of anything thereafter, i.e. amplifier, speakers, environment.  The listed deficiencies are what AutoEQ attempts to compensate for.

Makes sense!  That explains a lot.  I appreciate you taking the time to help.
