Just finished installing an AVIC-6100NEX into my Mustang. Went with the USB & HDMI cables using the Lightning digital AV adapter because I thought that's what was required. Got a 'USB incompatible' (or something like that) when trying to select USB 1 as the source. Removed the adapter and went straight into my iPhone 6 with the Lightning USB cable, and everything seems to work fine.

 

1. Am I losing any functionality by not using the HDMI cable and adapter?

2. Any ideas why I got the error message when using the adapter?

 

I'm guessing I was doing something wrong, but I have no idea what it may be.

In settings select lightning adapter and hook up lightning adapter will enable you to use iPhone with appradio

 

In setting select USB Amd DO NOT USE the hdmi lightning adapter, Hook your phone directly to USB 1 using lightning connector wire only for car play to function, app radio will now be unusable
