i remember reading a thread not too long ago about a trick to control the ipod while it's plugged into the d3. searched at least 15 different times and can't find that thread anymore. Can someone help me find it, or perhaps enlighten me on how this trick is executed? thanks in advance!

Just select the ipod video function on the d3 and you should be able to controll everything with the ipod. This works great for me.

is this possible if i don't have ipod video? i can't try it right now because my car is in the dealership.

also, i remembered there being a trick that involved some timing with turning the ipod on/off with the d3 to get this to work.

I'm not sure if this will work if you don't have a video ipod. I couldn't get the other trick to work. I will try it with my nano.

Just tried it with the nano it works perfectly. Just touch the video button under the ipod controls and you will have full control with your ipod.

No, ipod video only, and there is no special trick to controlling the ipod with the D3. It has full control over music and control of video once you start the video from the ipod. What ever your referring to as far as some sort of special trick to get it to work involves other units. not the D3
