r u running Vista?

I don't think it's vista, I had the same problem with my Z1 on XP. I didn't figure out how to fix it though.

Well this suck because my new toshiba 40 gig drive works great no reboots just like every one said. Now before I loaded the image Partition Magic was able to read the drive at fat 32. I then used Acronis and loaded the image. Now when I open part ion Magic it said it cant read it because there IS NO PRIMARY PARTITION. But windows still reads it fine I can go in and still edit all files, put in radio take back out and still works. WTF.

What did you guys do or set as parameter wise to make the resize work. Also what other program can I use. I finally got every thing working but this.

Oh and Im running XP.

I am downloading Acronis Disk Director and will try to resize it with this on another pc will update in a hour or two when its done.

reason why I ask is there is no partition magic version that works on Vista. If you try to install, you will get a message that a compat. error.

I had the same problem and while I am using Acronis Disk Director for now.

I know that the boot dish of partition magic will not work on Vista.

The only thing I can think of is that the new drive needs to be formatted as fat32 under partition magic and create a primary partition. Then you can image the Z2 onto the drive and works fine.

Acronis Disk Director works great but u cannot use the trail to change anything on the drive.

Yeah but Acronis ask you do yo wan to delete all partitions I said yes since I want it to be a exact duplicate.

not to sure why u deleted the drive but if you are going to start from the beginning.

format the drive using Acronis

clone the drive 'Z2'

in Acronis go ahead and extend the partition you want. sense it is the music drive. MSV is the one you want to extend

No I mean when you first use the .tib file from the z2 image. The last question is due you want to delete all partitions before you copy the image.

So what you are saying is format the whole drive first to fat 32, then run acronis a load the image and choose not to delete partitions that are all ready on there.

if your using acronis then you have have to do anything really. just clone the drive with the Z2 image and open acronis to change the size of the MSV.

the only down sire to all this is there is no way to just copy the songs onto the drive. I've tried at3 softwares and so far none are the same format that the Z1/Z2 use when you record from a cd

There's one problem with what you said

I wiped out the free space that I had, which was labeled as "unallocated" and was 27.95 GB, and then I tried to move onto resizing the msv partion, but I cant make it any bigger, only smaller.

so what I'm doing right now is wiping out the "unallocated" space, and THEN I'll try to expand the msv partion

You can delete the last partition. Then enlarge your music partition, just be sure to leave enough space for the last partition. Then clone just the last partition into the remaining space.

Ok, I just did that and it worked, but I think I got all the labeling wrong

Could you please tell me the label names of the 4 partions, and if they are all supposed to be set as active and/or primary

I give up it works with out changing the size I just wanted to because the drive was bigger. Now when I do a fresh install form Acronis it fills up the who drive. Now there is no free space or any unallocated partions either. The main drive is 23 gigs now and the two small ones are 709mb and the music drive is 12 gigs. Using up my whole 40 gig drive. I dont get it I didnt do any thing to the .tib file.

you have to move the last partition (the 572MB, or so, one) to the far end of the unallocated space first.... then, Disk director will allow you to re-size the 9GB volume.... right click on the last partition (the 572 one) click on move.... IN the pop-up, drag the partion to the far right side. click OK. Now there is space available for the music partition to be expanded to the remainder of the space... It took me a bit to figure this out in Disk Director, but it works great... i also re-sized some of the cluster for performance... once the whole thing is done, i used PerfectDosk to do a full defrag of all the partitions.... happy 60GB drive now, with lots o' music space!

is there any how to's to resize the parition using acrons disk director? This is so confusing. So you resize the 3rd partion out of the 4? I have the toshiba 40gb, i just wanted to expand the music from the 10gb to 20gb.
