8201 not displaying song titles on cd playback

my 8201 is not displaying the song titles or album name in playback from original produced ..store bought cd's. these cd's are not copies or burned recordings .the only info that is displayed is the song number

any idea why and any help is appreciated!!

a lot of store brought CD dont have CD text

Those same store bought CD's displayed their text on my Avic-1... why does the song text display on my NEX-8201?

CD's are so "last century". :rolleyes: I just realized it doesn't play my 8-tracks and cassettes.

i'm interested too. i think it's a shame by pioneer to sell unit so expensive and not have cd text !!!!! just title !! artist name !! album name !! nothing !!!! it's a shame !!

Do? Write them to complain, but good lord, I can't imaging that they're not aware by now.

That said, no new firmware since Feb, so they seem overdue.

*edit: just checked again, new firmware - 1.07.

Sadly, no mention of this in "fixes":

This firmware update (version 1.07) contains the following improvements.

- Reduces noise that is emitted when using iPod sources
- Add QWERTY keyboard in AppRadio Mode
- Corrects a message that is improperly displayed when the system is turned off - Corrects an error that may occur when using SiriusXM Artist Alert feature

Maybe if more people get in on this subject Pioneer might do something about this problem..........Yes CD's are yesterdays technology BUT....I still use it and I paid A LOT of money for a state of the art ..top of the line product that should have something as simple as text for a cd, .if the AVIC 1 I had before this NEX 8201had cd text then I expect this unit to have it also !!!

Yep.it should sure as hell work, I agree.

I've also had a love/hate relationship with Pioneer and it's top HU's.

This is the reason why - their software dev's are either lazy, don't care, clueless, or out of touch (maybe all of the above).

Oh well, will update the firmware today and see what happens...

Haven't hit it yet. Wife has been using the FJ for a music video, so I'm going to do it today or tomorrow. Will report back once done.

FWIW, it's working great with iOS 11 betas. On beta 8 today and no issues yet...
