i have the avic d3, do i need to hook up the reverse wire? is it for navigation or reverse camera?
reverse wire?
It is for both.
It is needed for the backup camera.
The NAV will be more accurate when you are backing up, but not a big deal if you don't hook it up. Personally I would connect the backup wire if it were my vehicle.
ok how do i hook it up in the back of the d3? and will it make my navigation more presice when going forward?
There is a wire marked with a plastic tab that says "reverse wire" on one of the D3 plugs
ok cool now how do i hook that wire up?
One of the wires that hooks up to the reverse lights on your car
ok where can i find the reverse lights on my 2004 yukon?
On the back of your truck.
so it has to be wired all the way back there?
Lucky for you the maker of your car had to run wires all the way back there, so you just have to find where to tap into it. It can usually be tapped in one of the kickpanels or there will definitely be somewhere running down the sides of your car under the carpet
so it has to be wired all the way back there?
ok cool now can u tell me how to hook up the reverse wire, is it just a tap into kind thing?
the reverse wire is up front at the BCM.( BCM is under the steering column) it's the light green wire in the black plug, pin F, the black plug is on the right side. two 7mm bolts under the dash piece and the top snaps out. hope this helps
dave
so i guees i could use a wire tap to tap into this wire?
Reverse Light for 2004 Yukon

BCM, black plug, pin F
light green wire
The BCM (Body Control Module) is under the driver side dash. It has 6 plugs in it, the purple plug is on the back.
Seems to be a discrepency between the color of the plug. Either black or purple. You should be able to find it by looking for a light green wire in pin F location.
no discrepency in the color (black or purple) it's the black plug! don't get confused ![]()
so all i have to do is look for the black connector and then do a wire tap into the light green wire???
Yup.
