so guys... on this are u allowed to play avi files?? or just straight up divx?? it would be sweet to put on some movies on the cd instead of putting in a dvd disc u guys know?

According to the manual you should be able to play DVIX cd's as well as dvd's.

Just tested this and it does play DIVX cd's but no AVI support.

i bought mine used... no manual, can someone tell me whether you have to rename the files to .divx or not?

There is the manual. Start on pg 78. Looks like you need to change the media type by pressing the media button.
