for your navigation to always work, does the disc always have to be in? when i take it out, i cant zoom or basically cant do anything? sorry if its a stupid question. thanks
new guy here, quick question
You have to have the disk in to program a route. Then it saves the route in memory and you can remove the disk.
If you don't have the disk in and don't have a route memorized, the unit will still track your movement, but you can't zoom in quite as far as normal.
so basically for a few days.just choose routes i go through around town?? and soon enough it will know everywhere i gone and so forth?
No. You will always need the disk in to plot a route. After you enter it in the D3, you can take the disk out and use the disk slot for something else. Next time you need to plot a route, put the disk back in, etc.

ooo i see...but next time i go to that same place.it will remeber it?
If you put it in your address book. You will still need the disk in for it to figure out how to get there
You put the disk in and program a route. The unit saves the route to TEMPORARY memory. Then you can take the disk out and do whatever you want. If you need to use the nav again, you have to reinsert the disk and save a new route to the D3, which OVERWRITES the previous route. There is no way to permanently store routes in the unit.
Or you could just leave the disk in there and not worry about it.
thanks answers my questions..that sucks=/ guess i better get my ipod adapter
You need the ipod cable, not the adaptor
