I have followed the directions given by Hyperite inorder to update my Z2. After I press the map button, with the disc in, a pop up window saying "CD ROM INSERTED" appears. Nothing esle happens. Am I missing something here???????????
Z2 UPDATE
Did you put the update disk into your computer and look at the files on it? How many files are on the disk?
I've got 5 files on the cd. They are: CONF, Renewal, SDATA, DISCINFO.txt, and DISKID.DAT. Does the order of the files on the CD effect the operation of the disc? Should I try burning a disc with the files still compressed?
I'm also having the same problem with the two wire bypass for the Z1. The disc for the Z1 bypass has 6 files. All the same as for the Z2 plus one file called: 0_OPTION.DAT.
When I open the cd using my computer i first have to double click on the folder that I made when unzipping the files, I am then able to see all the files listed above. Do you think that this could efffect anything?
Thanks for taking the time to respond to my questions.
I am having the exact same issue. I checked the CD and it contains the files dsikid.dat, discinfo.txt, plus conf, Renewal and SDATA folders. By the way, the discinfo.txt file contains:
Pioneer
DISC:00
MODEL:---Z1
But I have Z2, is this ok? I got the iso from hyerite's sticky post.
Found the comments in quotation marks at the end of this message at the pioneer URL below. For some eason the Windows XP disc burning software (which is what I used) will not create a proper data disk for the AVIC. You have to use a third party (which one? any third party?) dc burning software for this to work. Also "the CD you record must be in one of the following formats using Mode 1: ISO9660 level1/level2, Joliet, or Romeo.", whatever that means.

"All of these files must be copied to the root of the CD and should not be copied into any folders. Please note that the CD you record must be in one of the following formats using Mode 1: ISO9660 level1/level2, Joliet, or Romeo.
NOTE: Discs created with the build-in Windows XP CD burning software cannot be read by the AVIC-Z1. You must use a third-party CD burning program to create the disc."
One other item that is useful to know if you won a mac:
http://www.macfixitforums.com/showflat. ... 31&fpart=1
"When you burn a CD from the Finder, you produce a "hybrid" Mac/PC CD. When you burn from iTunes, you produce what's called a "Red Book" audio CD--a standard, baseline audio CD."
Obviously, this is not a format the AVIC Z2 will accept. On a Mac, "Toast 8" will allow you to burn in the iso9660 format plus many others:
"With Toast, you can produce a Mac/PC hybrid CD and a Red Book audio CD, just like with the Finder. But you can also produce a Mac-only HFS CD, a Mac-only HFS+ CD, an ISO9660 (baseline PC) CD, an ISO9660/Joliet (Microsoft Windows) CD, an audio CD+Text, an MP3 CD (which is basically just a Joliet CD full of MP3 files), a Video CD, a custom hybrid CD that has different files when placed in a Mac and a PC, and a CD that has both computer data and audio on it.
You can also produce a movie DVD, a data DVD, a compressed movie DVD, a super video CD, a slide show movie DVD, and create DVDs for NTSC or PAL video formats. In addition, you can produce disc images, make multiple copies of a CD or DVD from the same source, make CD or DVD copies from disc image files, produce a CD or DVD from bin/cue files, create enhanced audio CDs, or create DVD music albums."
