I downloaded the files for the upgrade, now i see the winrar files and then i see cndv-700hd iso and 3 files - track01,0218.AT3. What do i do with those files? Am i just extracting the rar files and then copying the big image file .tib file onto new HD?

I think you are confusing multiple processes here. If you have a Z1 and want to upgrade to a Z2, go here:

what are you talking about? Yes, obviously i went there to download the file parts. why is there a iso of cndv-700hd in it, that part # is for the upgrade from z1 to z2, not the whole hard drive image. i just need some clarification.

That's exactly my point. The cndv-700hd iso is from a different thread. The thread I referenced is to image your Z1 drive to a Z2 and only provides the winrar files which compile into the .tib file.
If you are reimaging your hd drive to turn it into a Z2, disregard the iso file.

is this upgraded unit now considered an avic-z2?
i have seen bypasses being sold for avic-z2 will they work with upgraded avic-z1? 
One thread was enough. Yes it can be bypassed, do some reading here and you will find out how...No need to buy anything
Of course its not considered a Z2, since it says Z1 on the front in little letters and numbers. It is however, identical to a Z2 in every way except that

thanks buddy i found out what files i have to download and then uplpoad on my unit. after uploading those files i still need to do the 2 WIRE bypass as well?
