I just installed my D3 in a 2000 MBZ E320. I did the bypass and that seems to be working. the radio works, but if I use a CD or DVD there is no sound. I tried reseting the unit but that didnt help.

Go to "system settings" under "AV Menu". Change the ANT CNRL to power and not tuner. It sounds like you have a factory amp that needs to be turned on.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll check that when I get home. dont have any dvd or cd with me. That makes perfect sense.

Actually, there's 2 turn on leads on the AVIC-D3.
The first one, which is on the power/speaker harness, is for your power antenna, and can either be on when the unit is, or only when the source is the radio, depending on what you select in the menu as stated above..
The other, on the RCA output harness, is the system control lead, and that one is on all the time when the unit has power, and is the one that should be used as your amp turn on lead.
