I have a 03 350Z and bought the d3. The car has the bose system, no factory nav. I bought the pac roem nis2 cuz some forums said that is what i need for the bose amp to work. i have wired all the rca's from the d3 to the right left front and rear, all of the positive wires are on the HIGH LEVEL. none of the LOW LEVEL positives are wired. The VSS is not wired, but all others are. I get good sound out of the speakers but it is not as loud as the factory bose HU. CAN ANYONE HELP ME, PLEASE?

Maybe that's because the factory bose head unit's preamp outputs have a higher voltage than the D3's... If that's the case, then there's nothing much you can do about it.

OK well i was driving around today and while i was driving the stereo was getting louder as i drove but still not as loud as stock. I know that is what the vss wire is suppost to do but i don't have it wired!?!? so i wanted to know before taking the dash apart again that if i wired the vss wire if that would fix my amp problem. does that make sence????

The purpose of the VSS signal in the D3 is to improve the accuracy of the GPS. Along with the VSS, D3 uses the reverse signal and built-in G sensors to guess which direction the car is going. Not that important until you're in a place with marginal GPS satellite coverage with stuff like mountains, forest or buildings blocking the satellites.

Somes OEM systems use the VSS to increase the volume as the car speed goes up. My ML430 did that through the MCS head unit. The D3 does not vary the volume depending on vehicle speed. Perhaps that is done in the Bose amp which is why it's varying for you?

I have a D3 in my 350Z with Bose and no Nav... And it works just fine. A friend of mine installed it, so I can't offer any more insight.

The speed sensitive volume is due to the Bose amp and a microphone near the steering column. If you're still using the Bose amp, you'll have speed sensitive volume.

My volume is suitable. When I have the D3 turned to 10, it's pretty loud, even with the top down.

I recommend you get somebody to finish the wiring for you if you're still having trouble. It's worth it just so you don't have to take that god-awful dash apart again.
