Greetings!

First, thanks to the owner/sponsor of the site! Just purchased my d3 and have read about the bypass and will be implementing it upon install.

I have a 2005 Hyundai Sonata. Is it necessary to hook up the pink wire? If so, I have no idea where to locate the speed detection circuit. Any direction will be greatly appreciated!

Hooking up the speed sense wire is not necessary. Depending on the GPS signal that you get, the unit will function without this hooked up. The wire does help when you lose your signal in a tunnel or something. There is a section on the forum where you can search for the VSS information of your car. If you can't find it, you can request it.

Sir Knight!

Thanks for the reply; it is greatly appreciated. While I have installed many in-dash units and external XM's, this is my first in-dash navigation unit. I will do more searching on the VSS for my car here. Before reading your reply, I read on the forum about www.12volt.com and I will search there as well.

OOPS! the site should be www.the12volt.com

According to the sticky in another forum on this site, I llooked at:

http://www.rostra.com/technical.htm

But could not find the 2005 Sonata. They listed the Accent, Elantra and Santa Fe. All three showed the VSS wire to be in the 7th position on the diagnostic plug.

Does anyone know if I am correct in assuming that this will be the same for the 2005 Sonata?

According to my info, yes it is the same. Did an install on a 2004 Sonata not to long ago, and it was there.
