I had my d3 installed by a shop a couple of months ago and everything worked great until just recently when I was using the navagation, the voice would cut in and out and nothing would have sound at all. No sound would come out for a while but then I would hear the bass kick in and then the music would start for a while but then it would a stop as if everything were muted. now no sound at all will come out. the navagation doesnt talk, the radio, ipod or dvd has no sound. Ive tried everything with troubleshooting and checked to make sure everything was plugged in and nothing works. Any ideas?

btw its in a 2000 toyota celica with alpine type r's are in the front with type s's in the back. its also hooked up to two kicker amps with two kicker subs.

Check all your RCA, power, ground, and amp turn on lead connections at the D3 and at the amp(s). Sounds to me like something was coming loose and eventually disconnected all together.

Oh. I skipped over the part where you said you checked the connections for some reason.

Umm... maybe the preouts on the D3 went bad? Or the preout harness isn't seated in the D3 properly?

yea that may be it. i also think it might be my ground for the amps. when I turned the car on the lights on the amps didnt light up like they usually did.

I checked and its not the grounds. anyone got any other ideas?

Well it's obviously a problem of your amps cutting in and out. Run a small wire from your battery's positive terminal and connect it to your amp's turn on wire terminal. If the amp doesn't turn on, it's either not getting power from the battery, it's not grounded, the amp's fuse(s) is blown, or the amp is dead. If the amp does turn on, either the remote turn on lead from the D3 is loose or disconnected somewhere, the RCA harness isn't seated securely in the D3, or there is an internal problem with the D3.

Also, make sure you're using the blue&white wire from the D3 labeled "System Remote" that's on the harness with the RCA outputs, not the blue wire labeled "Antenna" that's on the speaker/power harness. Because that antenna wire can be set up to put out power only when the radio is the active source.
