Hello All,

I joined the fray last week and installed a Z1. It took something like 4 hours. Very professional install If I do say so.. 8)

Anyway, I can't for the life of me get the ipod interface to work. When I plug my ipod in, the button is enabled on the menu. I can browse through songs and playlists, select the song, etc. It looks like it's playing but there is no audio.

I'm digging for some type of special mute, but I don't see one? There's no help section of the ipod adapter manual, and I can't seem to find any info searching the forums.. Anyone have any idea what's going on?

Everything else on my HU works 100%.

Thanks all,

-Dmitri

I believe the cause of this is the IP bus wire is plugged in backwards. There are blue and black ends on the accessory adapter cables. I don't remember which way is which, but if the head unit is supposed to be the blue end and the ipod adapter is supposed to be the black end of the wire, and you reverse those, you will get everything working but no audio, it does the same on sat radio adapters too. Double check the colors on the ends of that cable and make sure those are right.

Yep, that's what it is, just make sure the IP-Bus cable is plugged into the OUT connector on the CD-iB100II and you'll be set (don't ask me how I know that :D ).

haha I went out to my car and stared at it a little bit after I wrote that.. duh..

Thanks guys. I went through the manual cover to cover today. Amazing head unit..

Yeah I put this in the FAQ cause I think it's confusing too since the IP bus is a two way communication device. It's odd that it still controls the ipod and shows your songs when backwards.

That's the thing that is strange is that Pioneer didn't make the connections polarized. Data communication on the Bus is passed down from one component to the next, with each one only "listening" to what they need (commands directly to them from the headunit), but audio only goes one direction.

I don't even want to think about how many people have made that same mistake, and the warranty claims and customer service nightmares that have ensued. All they had to do was make the connectors different, besides the color and they wouldn't have a problem.

Oh well.

Had a similar issue with my ipod adapter and cd playback. AM/FM was working. I checked all my connections and then started going through the menu. Turns out one of the options for Antenna was set to power. go figure.
