The 6th gen ipods won't output video to the D3. Return it for a 5.5 gen and it will work fine

My brand-new, 3rd Generation iPod nano seems to work fine -- both music and video -- with the AVIC-D3 in my new 2008 Audi A4. Per the instructions that came with the AVIC, some full video controls require that you use the iPod itself. The AVIC lets you do basic play/pause on any music videos in the iPod I have.

On one or two occaissions, my iPod has locked up after disconnecting from the AVIC's cable and I've had to reset it using the instructions on Apple's site. But generally, it seems to work well.

The AVIC even places a Pioneer logo in the screen of my iPod when it's connected.

Ya, apple released a firmware update to fix it on most models
