Anything I need to know before I tackle this? Also, the wiring harness I got only comes with 2 harnesses...I'm under the impression there are 3 harnesses behind the dash, plugged into the deck? My Explorer has the upgraded Audiophile stereo with 6 disc indash MP3 and subwoofer in the back. Is the VSS in any of these harnesses?!? Any help/hints would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

Depends on which harness it is. If it is a smaller rectangular (what they call a 1771 plug) then the speed wire SHOULD be grey/black in the larger square plug. If you have the newer larger rectangular plug (or the 5520 plug) it will be in the main harness, above the accessory wire. It will still be grey/black.

the 3rd harness is the steering wheel control and vss

most new fords do not have the vss in the radio harness. the 07 explorer vss is purple/orange at the pcm on the passengers side firewall. the one large plug behind your radio is all your power, speakers, and illumination. the small plug is your factory subwoofer. if you have the middle size plug you dont need it. its for factory sirius and dvd

Funny, most f-150's, all f-250 and 350, most Mustangs, and most explorers I have worked on (with the 5520 harness) have had a grey/black in the main harness, above the accessory wire, next to the ground.

08 Superduty's also nolong have the vss in the radio harness. The pin is empty. Though it's really easy to get at the wiper motor harness under the hood. Actually I haven't seen any of the 08 fords with a vss in the radio harness.
