I just bought a avic z1 and its DOA. when you go to hardware page where you can see the GPS sats vss status etc.. I have numerous errors. The list is:

GPS NOK

VOLTAGE NOK

VSS NOK

BACKUP NOK

These errors leads me to believe the gyro in it is inop. I called pioneer and they say the unit is defective. Evverything else works though. Crazy. I am sending the unit back for a refund and have since purchased another which I hope will be here next week. I have another question though. I hooked the PAC adapter up for the steering wheel controls and all works well, however I bought another for the rear controls and they don't work. I also am trying to get my stock sub to work with this unit and it doesnt. My CAR IS A 2006 Lincoln Navigator non oem nav. I bought a rear monitor and will use the AVIC for movies. Any help will be greatly appreciated..

started working two days later, finished my install yesterday and it went back to the same problem. It is going back and a new one is already on the way. If anyone else gets these errors your unit is most likely defective.

I wonder if the unit itself is dead, or just the Hard Drive...
