iPhone issues with AVIC D3

I've seen a few posts on this forum regarding the iPhone and D3 and wanted to relate my experience and see if anyone has any new info.

As a new iphone owner (3 weeks) I decided to explore getting a new car stereo that would play music from my iphone and incorporate bluetooth for hands free use. Went to Car Toys and the salesman whipped out his own iphone and plugged it into the D3 and it appeared seamless. I was assured it was "totally compatible". He knows the D3 and has an iphone, how was I to know? And the Nav system made it even more attractive.

Come to find out the iphone will not import my contact list onto the D3 so I am stuck having to dial from my iphone anyway. To make things worse, my ipod cable was installed in my glove box so I now have to choose whether I might need to make a call or whether I want to play my ipod...

I have figured out how to save a few phone numbers on the 6 factor phone number presets but it just shows the numbers, no names or pictures.

Also, video playback does not work. Heard there might be a new cable coming out that would solve this. Anyone have any info?

Anybody know whether Apple or any 3rd party software is available to import iPhone contact lists to the D3.

Purchased an expensive unit with the idea I could use my iphone "seamlessly" but even the basic contact list function won't work. not Pioneers fault but I wish the salesperson had told me that.

Thanks for any help, sorry for the long post.

Not that its any help, but our rep knew nothing of a new cable coming out. I would pray that someone hacks the apple software in the mean time
