In Europe you can get one from November 2007, which I assume is identical to the Z1/Z2 version....

Gracenote Pioneer Europe

I contacted Pioneer with this question and they said that they post the updates as soon as they are received from Gracenote. I emailed Gracenote to ask when they are sending the next update to Pioneer and they replied with the following?

"Thanks for writing. With devices, each developer has selected a different way and timing of providing updates for their customers. There are a variety of solutions (different methods to update, sizes of database and frequency of updates), and I don't have any of the technical manuals here to help you out.

Please write to Pioneer the company who built your device for support. They built the product and would best know when they're providing updates for you - their customer. Most companies provide updates two or four times a year. I don't know the schedule for Pioneer, but we provide them encrypted updates, but it's up to them to post them.

I hope they can help you with this quickly.

I guess I will just try the european version of the update from the link above. All the file names match exactly to the US update website. Has anyone else had success with this??

Maybe I will not try the new version....The same rep from Gracenote just emailed me back and said that the European version most likely has more European titles and may have many fewer US titles included in it. Any thoughts????

Pioneer told me a month ago that they were going to update it in 2 weeks and its been a month now

I did the update from the European Pioneer website and it worked without a problem. Gracenote recognized several cds after the update that it did not before. I am not sure what, if anything, it is missing or how it may be different from the US version, but it does seem to have the majority of the US artists included.

I did this update today and it works. Now everything is not updated but the majority of my songs were. My new Kanye West cd is still not picking up but I guess that's b/c Kanye came out recently.
