Fix your converter's settings or use a better converter.

do you know what the audio settings should be at so that the d3 could read them? also any suggestions onthe converter?

I don't know. I've never actually had to convert anything to divx.

ah ok thanks anyway man! if anyone else knwos that would be really helpful

Hey, I use Super Converter... http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html it's freeware and it's really good, it basically reads and convert all kinds of format. The settings I used are "avi", then "Divx" and "DX50" and it works with with mp3 audio. You can do like a batch conversion and let it convert. It works fine with all the music videos i want.
