assuming I have a bypassed Z2, is there a way to view the feed from the rear camera while moving?

One of your map screens will show the camera on 2/3 of the screen and map on the rest. You can use this at any time.

I am getting ready to install one in my brother in laws motorhome and plan to put a momentary push button on dash that will trigger camera (backup wire).

This will allow him to just push button and get camera at any time when going down road. Will be nice when trying to merge into traffic, etc.

There is a better way, but it will require a little alternate wiring.

Connect your Back up camera to a switch, or to IGNITION on the vehicle.

This will turn on your camera every time you turn on your car.

Connect the Reverse wire from the car to the Pioneer unit only. Meaning the reverse wire will only be used to switch the pioneer, and NOT turn on your camera.

Use a Y adaptor on your Camera's video cable, to split your cameras output in 2.

Plug 1 part of the Y adaptor to the camera input on the Pioneer, and the other into Video 1. (if its not being used)

Result is..

when you put your vehicle in reverse, the pioneer will switch to rear view mode, your camera will already be on, so you will get picture.

If you want to view the camera while driving, Select AV1 as a source, and yhatzee. there ya go. You will need to have the parking brake bypass active/connected to view AV1 while driving

The only down side to this, is your camera is on the whole time you are driving. with a good camera this usually doesnt make a difference. however with some of the cheaper camera, it will shorten the life of your camera.

If you dont want your camera on all the time, you can use a Diode on the reverse wire so it turns on the camera, and keep the IGN power from turning on your reverse lights, and also a diode on the IGN wire so the reverse wire doesnt backfeed into your IGN source.

I recommed contacting an EXPIERENCED shop to install your diodes, for it is tricky, directional, and must be placed/connected in a certain sides of each diode.

Good Luck

Today when I got in the car and pulled out of the drive way, I had no back-up camera.

When I press the map button, i can not select the back up camera slpit screen option because it is greyed out.

Any reason, or fixes. It is not a cheap one.

Is the camera input turned on in the initial/setup menu?
