hello everyone...just wanted to say there is alot of useful info here..

the bypass with pics was a relly big help...

i just got a couple of question about wiring harness and bypass..i just want to make sure before i start so i could get the job done right the first time..

i got a 05 chevy colorado no onstar, no sterring wheel volume controller..

ive been to couple retail stores looking for a wiring harness one store tried to sell me a $120.00 wiring harness..so i want to check out another store the sales person told me sense i dont have onstar or volume controller on the steering wheel that a..i guess u could say normal wiring harness is just fine which is about $20.00...if anyone have a colorado or canyon can u give me some insight on this...

now next question..

i understand the movment of the mute wire and parking brake wire after all that with the ground wire just goes straight to a part of the truck correct?? it does matter where its grounded??

thank for the help sry for all the question i just like to make sure i get thing done right the first time..

when you buy the adapter harness (it sounds like the $20 will work)

just run the bypass & E-brake wire to the ground in the adapter harness, and tie the decks ground in there. should be 4 wires (adapter ground from vehicle, ground from deck, and mute & ebrake)

if you want to be super sure (or if you are planning a big system) put a 5th wire in there, and connect it directly to ground (the trucks metal work - not plastic dash parts) and that should eliminate any possibility of hum or alternator whine.

some nicer RCA cords will have a ground on them also, you can tie that to the 5th wire and chassis ground also to have the whole system at the same ground level.
