Avic D3 in a 2007 4runner Ibus cable question

I would like to install a CD-1200 Ipod cable in my D3 unit after it has been installed back in July. The place where it was installed wants a $100.00 to do it which is crazy.

I have to plastic strips on both sides of my D3 system installed in my dash. Do I gently pry these off to access the screws holding the D3 in place? Does the unit pull right out after removing the screws with the existing cables connected? Do I need to drill a hole in the interior of my dash board to run the cable to the glove box?

The guy said it's about a 1/2 hour install.

I'll try to post a pic for you guys since this is my first post.

Thanks for any input given.

Pics of the trim around the radio would help.

Here is the pic of my install. The two plastic strips I was reffering to are on the left and right side of the Nav system.

Thanks!!

Not even close. You have a fair amount of dissassembly to get to the back of that screen. Let me see if I can find you the instructions.

EDIT:

Here you go.

http://documents.victorytechnologies.co ... 5-8202.pdf

instructions for your truck are on page 9 of the pdf. You'll need a 10mm socket and I beleive a phillips screwdriver.

Wow!!!...Thanks for the instructions. What about nylon tools I read about? Would this be the proper application used to remove the dash kit? Or would a small screwdriver do? I would guess that the dash would "pop out" like door panels would?

Again. thanks for the link.

http://www.installer.com/tools/

Scroll down to where it says prytools and scrapers. Those would be best, if you're going to use a flat head screw driver, run a layer of tape over it to help prevent scratching the dash.

Thanks again for the reply and information. I went to CC last night to purchase the cable for $35.00 and the Nylon tools in that website are like $25.00 so that's 60 bucks right there. Since I never ripped out a dash kit before, especially in a new truck, I think for an extra $40.00, I might just have the car stereo company do it for me because they initially installed it. Plus they said it would take only a half hour, me...probably 2 hours...LOL!!!!

But thanks for taking the time out to help me.
