Okay im a newb to this and i just got my car yesterday which came with the AVIC D3 Model Navi System. Okay my question is it notes that you can have AV hooked up my question is.. since i didnt install it myself or know who did, where are the AV hook ups? I know Generally AV are the Red Yellow and White plugs.. any clues where they are located in the car? Also i have a IPOD can i just plug it into the Minijack? or do i have to buy something special to hook it up... thanks again!

The place where you can find the AV hookups is in the back of the unit, but that's only if the person installing decided to use the AV harness. If they didn't, you'll want to look for the harness on ebay or pioneer's website. In either case, you need to get to the back of the unit.

If not, you can buy the composite mini cable that plugs into the front of the unit. The jack in the front of the unit recieves video and stereo audio. Again, you can find it either on ebay or pioneer's website.

You can use this to hook it up to the front panel:

But if you have an ipod, you would probably rather use this cable:

Because not only does it charge the ipod, but it allows you to control the ipod's functions via the controls on the D3.

Yup, this is one of those musts if you have the D3 and an iPod, cuz you can find the cable for only $XX more. Only thing is... you have to get behind the D3 to connect it.

and getting behind it would take uninstalling it again?

Yeah, unless you're fortunate enough to be able to reach behind the unit through your glove box opening or from underneath.

But honestly, it shouldn't really be all that hard to do if you can't.

You don't even have to unhook any wires.

Just remove the trim from around the radio/console, remove the screws holding the D3 in the dash, and it should slide out enough for you to plug the cable in. How hard or easy it is to get to the unit depends on the model of car, though.
